Stanford Bows Out Of The Pac-10 Championships

OJAI, Calif. - No. 22 Stanford finished play in the 2008 Pac-10 Tennis Championships in Ojai, Calif. today as the duos of Phil Kao / Jeff Zeller and Kevin Kaiser / Paul Morrissey both fell in the Invitational Doubles Quarterfinals after advancing out of the Round of 16. The Cardinal exited the tournament with two days of competition left, and will await the NCAA Selection Show on Tuesday, April 29 to learn where and who they will next play.
Kao/Zeller and Kaiser/Morrissey were the only two Stanford pairs to advance from the morning's Round of 16. In the 9 a.m. matches, Kao and Zeller handily defeated No. 3 UCLA's Ahmed Ismail and Josh Miller, 8-2. Kaiser and Morrissey upended No. 21 Arizona State's Jack Marsh and Murilo Souza, 8-4.
Stanford was unable to make it into the semifinals, as Kao and Zeller fell to Oregon's Kildahl and Obenaus in a tight back and forth match, 9-8 (8). Kaiser and Morrissey were defeated by No. 30 California's fourth-seeded Jonathan Dahan and Bozhidar Katsarov, 8-3.
Tuesday's NCAA Selection Show will air at 11 a.m. on ESPNEWS.
