Stanford Earns No. 8 Seed At West Regional

Stanford women's golf was selected to participate in the NCAA West Regional in Lincoln, Calif. from May 8-10 by the NCAA on Monday. The Cardinal were chosen as the No. 8 seed in the 21 team tournament. The top eight teams from each of the four regions will make up the NCAA Championships field.
The West Regional will be hosted at the Lincoln Hills Golf Club by Sacramento State. The Cardinal are one of six Pac-10 teams in the field, led by Pac-10 Champion and No. 1 seed, USC.
Last season the Cardinal tied for first place at the 2007 NCAA West Regional on their way to a fifth place finish that the NCAA Championships.The Cardinal will be led by Mari Chun who finished with four top-10 finishes this season and was named second-team All-Pac-10.
Coming off her best tournament of the season is Catherina Wang who finished in a tie for tenth at the Pac-10 Championships to lead the Cardinal. Wang was named All-Pac-10 honorable mention.
The NCAA Championships will be held May 20-23 at the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course, Albuquerque, New Mexico, hosted by the University of New Mexico.
