No. 23 Men's Tennis Falls to No. 43 Duke in First Round of NCAA Regional

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The No. 23 Arizona State men's tennis team successful season came to end as the Sun Devils were upset by No. 43 Duke in the first round of the NCAA Regional at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Sun Devils fell 5-2 to the Blue Devils. ASU ended its season with a 15-5 record while Duke improved to 10-13.
The Sun Devils set off to a strong start by taking the doubles point. The dynamic No. 44 ranked duo of T.J. Bellama and Matt Brooklyn stormed past David Goulet and Christopher Price, upsetting the No. 33 Blue Devil team 8-4. Wes Miller and John Nanosky II also took their match to secure the doubles point. Miller and Nanosky defeated Dylan Arnould and Alex Stone 8-3. With the two ASU doubles win securing the point, the team of Andres Arango and Harry Skinner did not finish their match.
The tide turned in singles, however, as the Sun Devils were only able to garner one singles win. No. 74 Brooklyn earned a 7-6 (3), 6-2 upset victory over No. 55 Goulet to give the Sun Devils their last point.
The Sun Devils finished its season with a 15-5 overall record and a 3-4 conference record. This was the Sun Devils first time to the postseason since 2004.
