WALNUT CREEK, CALIF. -- The Pacific-10 Conference Track and Field Championships, Presented by 76 Gasoline (78th annual for men, 22nd annual for women) will get underway in Tempe, Ariz., this Friday and Saturday, May 16-17. Arizona State will host the event on Joe Sellah Track at Sun Angel Stadium (capacity: 5,000).

Activities begin Friday, May 16 at 10:30 a.m. PT with the women's hammer, while the rest of the day's events will start at 5 p.m. PT. The men's hammer will kick off the second day of events on Saturday, May 17 at 10:30 a.m. PT, with the rest of the day's events starting at 5 p.m. PT. Admission is $15.00 per day for general admission, while tickets for youth/senior citizens/students are $13.00. A two-day ticket is available for $20.00 for adults, $18.00 for youth/senior citizens/students.

ON THE AIR . . . FOX Sports Net will air a two-hour tape delayed show starting Thursday, May 22. Dwight Stones will call the action, while color commentary will be provided by Tom Feuer. Keep an eye on these athletes: ARIZONA senior Bobby McCoy (200m - 20.82, 400m 45.60) will contend in the sprints, junior Luis Rivera-Morales (long jump - 25-8.5/7.84m, triple jump - 51-9.5/15.79m) and senior Daniel Marshall (long jump - 25-0/7.62m, triple jump - 52-3/15.93m) will look to lead the Wildcats in the horizontal jumps ... ARIZONA STATE senior Matt Turner (high jump - 7-2.25/2.20m, long jump - 26-1.25/7.96m) looks for points in the jumps, sophomore Ryan Whiting (shot put 71-3.5/21.73m, discus 200-5.75/61.11m) has the league's best throw in the shot by nearly six feet, while senior Kyle Alcorn (3,000 steeple - 8:38.52) leads all Pac-10 steeplechase competitors. ... Acosta (5,000m - 13:50.20) has the Pac-10's top 5,000 meter time, senior Colin Veldman (hammer - 219-6.25/66.91m) will push for top honors in the hammer. ...
