Golfers Aim for Third Regional Title

May 14, 2008

Third-ranked UCLA aims for its third NCAA Regional title in the last six years beginning Thursday at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.

The Bruins, who won regional championships in 2003 and 2004, enter this week's competition as the No. 2 seed in the West. The Bruins have won four tournaments in Coach Derek Freeman's first year and have been ranked among the nation's Top 5 teams all season.

The Bruins boast three All-Americans in their lineup this week: senior Kevin Chappell and juniors Erik Flores and Lucas Lee. All three are averaging 72.4 strokes per round or less and each is a threat to win the individual title.
