Williams and Ross Pick Up Points for Women's Team At Pac-10 Championships

The No. 7 women's track and field team had a successful day of competition at the Pac-10 Championships in Tempe, AZ as multiple athletes posted qualifying marks for Saturday's finals and others scored points in the field events. Arizona State leads the team competition with 84 points after seven scored events while the Bruins stand in seventh-place with seven points.
200m - Diego finished second overall with a time of 23.37 and Lacy ran a season-best 23.97 (7th overall) as both advance to Saturday's final.
400m - Senior Merice Wisdom ran the No. 3 time of the day with her season-best run of 53.95 to advance to Saturday's final. Freshman Joy Eaton also ran a season-best (54.91), but placed 10th and does not advance to the final. Freshman Ashlea McLaughlin was 12th with a time of 55.85.
800m - Sophomore Krishna Curry ran the No. 9 time in UCLA history in the prelim round with her lifetime-best of 2:06.07 (old best, 2:08.64) to finish fifth overall. She advances to Saturday's final. Junior Gabrielle Bournes was 12th (2:13.44) and freshman Cobbie Jones finished 13th (2:15.28).
1500m - Junior Lauren Jirges finished 22nd in a time of 4:39.63 and does not advance to Saturday's final.
Steeple (Scored Final) - No entries.
10,000m (Scored Final) - No entries.
400m Hurdles - Junior Chanelle Curry advances to Saturday's final with her ninth-place run of 1:00.96.
ALL FIELD EVENTS ARE SCORED FINALS
Long Jump - Senior Renee Williams was sixth for the Bruins with a mark of 19-8.75 and sophomore Danielle Watson was ninth with a jump of 19-4.75. Senior Georgea Richards, competing in her final meet as a Bruin, finished 19th with a mark of 18-00.25.
Shot Put - Freshman Catherine White threw a lifetime-best 43-11.50 to finish 10th overall, while fellow frosh Alex Berg was 11th with a throw of 43-6.50.
Hammer - Freshman Katie Laich placed 13th with a mark of 138-7.
Finals for all running events (except the steeple and 10,000m) will be held on Saturday along with the finals for the discus, pole vault, triple jump and high jump.
