BOULDER - FSN Rocky Mountain will air the 2008 Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championship Friday, May 23 from 12:30-2:30 p.m.
Additional replays of the meet will be on Saturday, May 24 (12:30-2:30 p.m.) and on Sunday, May 25 (2-4 a.m.).
The CU men's team won its first conference title since 1947. The No. 11 ranked Buffs scored 138 points to defeat top-ranked Texas A&M (121). Colorado recorded 65 points from the 10k (33) and 5k (32).
The Buffs also had four individual conference champions. Junior Kenyon Neuman started the championship by winning the 10,000-meter run on Friday night. Seniors Billy Nelson, Brent Vaughn and James Begley won their titles on Sunday afternoon. Nelson won his second straight 3,000-meter steeplechase title. Vaughn recorded his fourth outdoor title and the third in the 5,000-meter run. Begley won the discus with his final throw of the event.
Colorado set two school records on Sunday. The 4x100-meter relay team took third, but recorded a mark of 39.59. In doing so, the team of Hugh Charles, Ryan Campbell, Nate Terry and Jeremy Dodson broke a 37-year old record set in 1971. Dodson also recorded a mark of 20.37 in the 200-meter dash. The previous time of 20.58 was set in 1976.
The women's team placed 12th overall.
