PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State senior Jayson Miller gave up one run in seven and two-thirds innings to lead Washington State to a 4-2 win over USC in Pacific-10 Conference baseball at Bailey-Brayton Field, Saturday.

Miller (8-1) scattered 11 hits, walked one, and struck out four. He pitched at least six innings as a starter for the 14th-straight time. His eight victories are the most by a WSU (30-25, 8-15 Pac-10) hurler since Bryce Chamberlin (eight) in 2004.

'Jayson Miller was awesome today,' Cougar Head Coach Donnie Marbut said. 'It was a great finish to a great Cougar career.'

Miller finished his four-years at Washington State with 74 appearances, tied for fourth on the Cougars' all-time list and his 295 and two-thirds innings pitched are tied for sixth-most in school history.

The Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 lead off USC (27-28, 10-13 Pac-10) starter Ryan Cook (7-5) in the second inning on a RBI-single by Shea Vucinich and a safety squeeze bunt by Travis Coulter.

Nick Buss homered for USC in the third, but WSU answered with a run-scoring single by Coulter in the seventh and RBI-double by Jared Prince in the eighth.

Hector Rabago homered off Ross Humes in the ninth to account for USC's final run. Humes notched the final four outs to earn his sixth save.

The teams conclude their series, Sunday at noon.
