Openings Still Available for Cougar Summer Soccer Camps

PULLMAN, Wash. - Registration is still available for the 2008 Washington State University soccer camps.

The Cougar soccer staff will host three camps beginning June 30. Boys and girls ages 4-8 may attend the Cougar Cub camp, Jun 30-July 3 from 9-10 a.m. daily at a cost of $60 per camper.

The Cougar Cub program has been designed to introduce the game of soccer through a blend of exciting and stimulating games and activities. The goal is to promote having fun while developing motor skills, increasing self esteem, and encouraging social and group interaction.

The Cougar Academy for boys ages 9-18 runs 10:15-11:45 a.m. daily from June 30-July 3 and is available at $100 per camper.

It is structured so that all camp activities are age-appropriate. Activities include instruction in all facets of soccer play including: specific position responsibilities (offense and defense), goalkeeping, on-field speed, full field placement and game strategies, individual evaluation, group and one-on-one instruction. All instruction is done in a positive, confidence-building manner within a fun-filled environment.

A residential camp for girls ages 9-18 as well as teams will take place July 13-17. Cost is $399 for individuals or $355 for commuters and each team member of a team with 14 or more players.

This camp will focus on each player's technical skill as well as develop her tactical awareness as it relates to the team concept of the game. Campers will train in various soccer specific settings including: positional drills, agility work, functional play and finally competitive game match situations. Girls teams are welcome with an Advanced Team Program built specifically around your team's needs.
