Mari Chun And Ki-Shui Liao Named Pac-10 All-Academic First Team

    Walnut Creek, Calif.- Six Stanford women's golf athletes were honored on Wednesday when the Pac-10 All-Academic Teams were announced by commissioner Tom Hansen. The honorees included Mari Chun and Ki-Shui Liao who were named to the Pac-10 All-Academic First Team.

    In order to be eligible for the Pac-10 Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, student-athletes must be a senior (in athletics eligibility) on track to receive a degree, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, participate in at least 50% of the scheduled contests in the sport and have a minimum of one year in residence at the institution.

    Chun, who was already chosen as a NGCA honorable mention All-American was also selected for the same award by Golfweek on Wednesday. The Stanford junior had season that included six top-25 finishes and a team-leading 74.1 scoring average. The Stanford junior is carries a 3.62 GPA in Japanese.

    Liao competed in eight tournaments for Stanford this season with her best finish coming at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational when she placed tied for 32nd. She carries a 3.86 GPA while majoring in communications.

    Also being honored were Angela King and Catherina Wang who were named All-Pac-10 Academic honorable mention. King was the only member of the Stanford team to qualify for the NCAA Championships where she placed tied for 75th. Wang's top finish came at the Pac-10 Championships where she led Stanford by finishing in a tie for tenth.
