Kaes Van't Hof And Allison Jaskowiak Earn Pac-10 Conference Medal

June 10, 2008

The Pac-10 Conference has awarded top honors to USC's Allison Jaskowiak Kennedy and Kaes Van't Hof, based on the Trojans' outstanding career performance as student-athletes and leaders in the USC athletic community. Each year, the Pac-10 bestows the Conference Medal on a male and female student-athlete from each Pac-10 institution, recognizing the individuals who exhibit 'the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.' Van't Hof recently completed his playing career with the USC men's tennis team, and Jaskowiak Kennedy also finished five years of competition with the USC women's basketball team.

Allison Jaskowiak Kennedy has completed her bachelor's degree in English literature and language and business minor and is currently pursuing a master's in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs. Awarded a fifth season of eligibility, Jaskowiak Kennedy was a two-season captain for the Women of Troy. In her final season, Jaskowiak Kennedy earned Pac-10 Defensive honorable mention, standing out as one of the Trojans' top defensive stoppers. She also provided a career-best 18 three-pointers in this past season. Academically, Jaskowiak Kennedy has earned her place in USC history as just the third Trojan ever to earn Pac-10 All-Academic First Team honors. USC's previous All-Academic First Team honorees were Holly Ford (1988) and Tammy Story (1990-92). Jaskowiak twice was an All-Academic Second Team selection before being granted her fifth year of eligibility. Jaskowiak's 4.0 GPA in her master's program earned her this year's Pac-10 All-Academic First Team honor, solidifying her as the first All-Academic First Team pick since Tammy Story garnered her third straight selection in 1992.

Kaes Van't Hof had a wildly successful final season at USC, finishing as a double major in business and accounting. Named an ITA All-American in doubles, Van't Hof also captured his first selection to the All-Pac-10 First Team for his standout season in both singles and doubles. Van't Hof swept the Pac-10 Tournament, winning the 2008 Pac-10 Singles title as well as the 2008 Pac-10 Doubles crown with Farah in Ojai. The Trojan pair expanded their winning streak to 26 straight victories en route to the 2008 NCAA Doubles Championship, becoming the first USC team since 1989 to win the NCAA title. Also an accomplished student, Van't Hof earned Pac-10 All-Academic First Team accolades. As the nation's No.1 doubles team, Van't Hof and Farah earned honors as the 2008 Pac-10 Doubles Team of the Year and ITA National Doubles Team of the Year. Van't Hof's additional honors this season include accolades as the West Region's recipient of the ITA/Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship and the region's Farnsworth/ITA Senior Player of the Year. Nationally, Van't Hof received the ITA/Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Award, which goes to a men's player who displays sportsmanship, character, and excellent academics, as well as having had outstanding tennis playing accomplishments.

The Pac-10's 2007-08 Conference Medal winners are scheduled to be presented with their awards in March 2009 at the State Farm Pride of the Pac-10 Luncheon, held in conjunction with the Pac-10 Basketball tournaments in Los Angeles.
