Savage & Williams Named All-Americans After NCAA Championships

June 16, 2008

Sophomore Darius Savage and senior Renee Williams were named All-Americans after completion of the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Due to the number of foreign competitors in their respective events, the duo earned All-American status.

Savage was 11th in the discus final with a best mark of 176-1 and Williams was 14th in the triple with a jump of 42-7.50.

With Savage being named All-American, the men's team tallied five total honors for the outdoor season with Greg Garza in the discus, Henry Hagenbuch in the steeple, Boldizsar Kocsor in the hammer and Johnny Quinn in the pole vault.

Williams joins Nicole Leach (400m hurdles) and the 4x400m relay team of Leach, Krishna Curry, Merice Wisdom and Krystin Lacy as the women's All-American honorees.
