July 1, 2008
UCLA soccer players Brian Perk (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) and Eder Arreola (Chino Hills, CA) have been selected to the U.S. Under-20 National Team roster for a July 12 match against Mexico's U-20 Team in Laredo, TX.
Perk and Arreola are two of the seven collegiate players on the 16-man roster. Perk, a junior goalkeeper and 2007 All-Pac-10 selection, is a U-20 veteran, having played with the squad at the 2006 FIFA Under-20 World Cup. In May, he led the U.S. to a 2-0 shutout against the Bolton Reserves in England, playing all 90 minutes and making three saves. Arreola, a freshman forward, is the youngest player on the squad at 16 years, eight months. He and five other players are all age-eligible for the next two FIFA Under-20 World Cups in 2009 and 2011.
