Jagd Coaches U.S. Women's Junior National Team to Gold

SALTILLO, Mexico - The U.S. Women's Junior National Team defeated the Dominican Republic in straight sets on Sunday, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18, to win the gold medal at the NORCECA Women's Junior Continental Championship. UCLA assistant head coach Kim Jagd was an assistant on the coaching staff that guided Team USA to a 5-1 tournament record.
The United States went 2-1 in pool play, falling to the Dominican Republic in four sets in the first match of the tournament on July 22 before winning its final five contests to take the championship. To round out pool play, Team USA beat Costa Rica in three and Canada in four sets.
The U.S. won its quarterfinal match against Mexico on Friday, 25-18, 25-17, 25-21, before coming back to beat Cuba in four sets on Saturday, 23-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-19. On Sunday, the United States exacted revenge on the Dominican Republic for its only loss of the tournament to take the gold.
