Stanford to Host College Colors Day Kickoff
July 31, 2008
STANFORD, Calif. - College Colors Day, a day dedicated for college enthusiasts to wear the colors of their favorite collegiate institution, is coming to Stanford Stadium. This year, Stanford fans, students and alumni will help kick off College Colors Day and the opening of its football season on Thursday, August 28 as it hosts' Oregon State University.
College Colors Day, organized by the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), coincides with 'back to school' and the kick off of the college football season. College Colors Day seeks to celebrate and promote the traditions and spirit that drive collegiate athletics by encouraging people from across the United States to dress in their favorite collegiate gear.
'This is a terrific event to start the football season,' Stanford Head Coach Jim Harbaugh said. 'We trust the entire Stanford community will unite, and wear their red and white on College Colors Day.'
'We are excited Stanford University is helping kick off the 2008 College Colors Day celebration,' Kit Walsh, Senior Vice President of Marketing for the Collegiate Licensing Company said. 'We hope this will become a lasting tradition on campus, and for Stanford fans around the country.'
The College Colors Day Kickoff starts at 6 p.m. PST and will be televised on ESPN 2. University of South Carolina will host an East Coast version of the College Colors Day Kickoff, as it opens against N.C State.
