Perk Shuts Out Belgium In Milk Cup

UCLA junior Brian Perk shut out Belgium, 2-0, in the U.S. Under-20 National Team's final game at the 2008 Milk Cup on Aug. 1. The U.S. finished the tournament in third place with a 2-1 record.

Perk made three saves in the win. The U.S. received goals from Peri Marosevic in the 56th minute and Casey Townsend in the 74th minute.

The U.S. began the tournament with a 3-1 loss to Northern Ireland but came back to win 4-0 against Wales and 2-0 against Belgium.

In other U.S. Soccer action on Saturday, the Olympic team, featuring Bruin alumni Benny Feilhaber, Patrick Ianni and Marvell Wynne, lost to Cameroon, 1-0, in the ING Cup in Hong Kong. The only goal scored in the game was on a penalty kick in the 24th minute. Wynne and U.S. defenders Maurice Edu, Michael Parkhurst and Michael Orozco did not give up a goal in the run of play in the team's two games. The U.S. begins Olympic play on Aug. 7 against Japan.
