Leslie, Thompson Win Another Olympic Gold

Aug. 23, 2008

With fellow Trojan Tina Thompson by her side once again, USC alum Lisa Leslie has secured another place for herself in history. With Team USA's gold-medal finish in Beijing today, Leslie became one of only two basketball players ever to win four Olympic gold medals. The United States' Olympic winning streak ballooned to 33 straight with Team USA's decisive 92-65 win over Australia in the 2008 final. Leslie and Thompson combined for 22 points and 12 rebounds for the USA in the win.

Four-time Olympian and four-time gold-medalist Leslie was one of four U.S. players to hit doubles figures, tallying 14 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Thompson -- now the owner of three gold in three Olympic Games -- added eight points and five rebounds for Team USA. Both Trojan greats were starters for the United States in Beijing, helping lead a deep U.S. squad through its historic Olympic run.

Leslie averaged 10.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game throughout the 2008 Games, adding two double-doubles for Team USA. Thompson averaged 10.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
