WSU Rowing Adds Two New Members to Coaching Staff

PULLMAN, Wash. - Corrie McGrath and Crystal Culp have joined the Washington State University women's rowing staff, head coach Jane LaRiviere announced Tuesday.

A 2003 graduate of WSU, McGrath joins the Cougar staff as the head novice coach after a year as the novice head coach and assistant varsity coach at Clemson University in Clemson, S.C. On top of her duties as novice coach at Clemson, McGrath served as the director of recruiting and oversaw the graduate assistant and volunteer staff. Prior to her work with the Tigers, McGrath served as the varsity lightweight coach at the University of Central Florida in 2005-06 and an assistant coach for UCF, which placed 16th at the NCAA Championships, in 2007.
McGrath rowed at Washington State from 2000-03 where she earned four letters and served as team captain. A two-time Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) All-American, four-time CRCA West Region First Team and two-time Pacific-10 All-Conference honoree, McGrath led the Cougars to NCAA Championship appearances in 2002 and '03. She is a native of Marysville, Wash.
Culp, a 2006 graduate of the University of Michigan, will serve as the graduate assistant coach. She comes to WSU after coaching Pioneer High School's (Ann Arbor, Mich.) novice team in 2006-07 and the E.L. Crossley (Fonthill, Ontario) junior women's rowing team and the South Niagara Rowing Club's junior B men's team in 2008.
Culp earned four letters in rowing at Michigan and was a two-time All-Big Ten Second Team honoree, as well as a CRCA All-Central Region Second Team All-American. She was a member of four Big Ten Boats of the Week. In Culp's four seasons at Michigan, the Wolverines captured two Big Ten titles and made four NCAA Championship appearances, including a third-place finish in 2004. She is a native of Ontario, Canada.
