Wildcats win Arizona Invitational opener 3-0

Tucson, Ariz. - The Arizona volleyball team pushed its win streak to four and opened the Arizona Invitational with a 3-0 win over Texas State Friday, Sept. 5 in McKale Center.
The Wildcats played their cleanest match of the year, beating the visiting Bobcats 25-13, 25-21, 25-14 with a team hitting percentage of .308.
The recorded just 13 attack errors, nine serve errors and one block error.
Sophomore outside hitter Whitney Dosty led the Wildcat offense with 14 kills on 30 attempts and a .333 hitting percentage.
Junior Jacy Norton also stood out. The middle blocker recorded seven kills, had two service aces and five blocks.
Sophomore Paige Weber continued to lead the team in assists, she recorded 36.
As a team, Arizona had a season-high 45 kills on a season-high 104 attempts.
With the win, the Wildcats also pushed their consecutive sets win streak to 12. Arizona has yet to lose a set in the 2008 season.
The Wildcats play their second match of the day when they host Santa Clara at 7:00 p.m. in McKale. The Broncos beat Texas Tech 3-0 in their first match of the day and this will be the two team's first meeting since Santa Clara knocked Arizona out of the NCAA Tournament in 2005 in the national quarterfinals.
