Stanford's Foluke Akinradewo Named Pac-10 Volleyball Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- STANFORD middle blocker Foluke Akinradewo has been named the Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 1 - Sept. 7, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Akinradewo, a senior from Plantation, Fla., posted 49 kills and hit an impressive .687 over four matches for the Cardinal, who went 3-1 on an 11-day road trip.

At Central Florida, Akinradewo led the team to its first sweep of the season, totaling eight kills while hitting .636.

In just three sets against William & Mary, the senior totaled 20 kills on 24 attempts without an error (.833). On pace to break the NCAA career hitting percentage record, Akinradewo hit a career-best .923 in a 3-0 win over No. 19 Illinois.

Akinradewo's 49 kills moved her into Stanford's top 10 in all-time kills.

The award is the fourth career honor for Akinradewo and -leading 63rd Player of the Week for Stanford all-time.
