Women's Golf Team Leads Inland Invitational

Sept. 15, 2008

PULLMAN, WASH. - The Washington State women's golf team boasts four individuals in the top 10 and leads the inaugural Inland Northwest Dodge Dealers Invitational after the opening day at the par-71, 6,142-yard Palouse Ridge Golf Club.

Senior Amy Eneroth paced the Cougars on the first day, having birdied three of her last four holes to finish the second round in second place, carding back-to-back rounds of 1-over-par 72. She sits four shots out of the lead going into the final round.

'It was a battle,' Eneroth said, 'I did not really hit the ball that great, but I scrambled well.'

Fellow senior Jessica Black followed closely, shooting a two-round total of 147 (+5). Black is currently in third after the first day.

The two seniors were followed by freshmen Kristen Allard and Lauren Howell, who finished within one stroke of each other. Allard posted a 149 (+7) while Howell finished with a 150 (+8). The fifth competitor on the first team was freshman Andrea Rosete, who shot 158 (+16).

'I thought the team played really well in the morning round, then the afternoon round had little slip-ups here and there, but we were very solid for the day,' said Head Coach Walt Williams. 'Any time you are in the lead you cannot complain about that.'

Washington State's second team ended up in 10th overall. Junior Mandy Parsons led the second team shooting a 157 (+15). Alison Travis was second carding a 158 (+16) while freshman Kaitlin Parsons marked a 159 (+17). Junior Haley Parsons ended with a 160 (+18) and freshman Danna Olson tallied a 170 (+28).
