Sept. 16, 2008
TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State junior goalkeeper Briana Silvestri has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week for Sept. 9-15, according to an announcement by Commissioner Tom Hansen on Tuesday.
Silvestri, a native of Terra Linda, Calif., helped extend ASU's unbeaten streak to three after shutting out both Baylor and the seventh-ranked Texas Longhorns on the road. After holding Baylor and a Texas team, who came into to the match averaging 2.6 goals per game, scoreless, Silvestri now ranks fourth on ASUs all-time shutouts list with nine.
