Plenty of TV Appearances For Men's Hoops

The Arizona State men's basketball team will make its first regular season appearance on CBS since February of 2005 and also will host the ESPN cameras during the regular season for the first time since February of 1992 as the Pac-10 has announced its television schedule for Fox Sports Net, ABC, CBS and ESPN. Seven of ASU's conference games are on either FSN, CBS or ESPN, tied for second-best for television appearances in Pac-10 games, with an additional two non-conference games on FSN in December.
ASU will make its first appearance on CBS since the 2004-2005 season when it travels to Pauley Pavilion for a 12:45 PT/1:45 MT tip against three-time defending Pac-10 champion UCLA on Sat., Jan. 17. It will mark ASU's first regular season appearance on the network since Jan. 30, 2005.
UCLA at ASU also is one of two ESPN Pac-10 games this year, with ASU hosting the Bruins on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. It will be ESPN's first trip to campus for a regular season game since Feb. 20, 1992.
Fox Sports Net will broadcast four ASU Pac-10 home games and five overall beginning with its first homestand in January. FSN will broadcast ASU's game against Oregon State on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 8:30 p.m. MT and follow that with a noon tip against Oregon on Sat., Jan. 10. Also on the Tempe schedule for FSN are 8 p.m. Sunday tips against USC (Feb. 15) and Arizona (Feb. 22) as the Sun Devils play five of their final seven games at home.
ASU and BYU are part of the Stadium Shootout at University of Phoenix Stadium on Sat., Dec. 20, in Glendale. Louisville and Minnesota start the doubleheader, with ASU taking on BYU on FSN at 2:30 p.m. BYU won the Mountain West Conference last year with a 14-2 mark and was 27-8 overall.
ASU and Fox Sports Arizona will announce games on locally once that schedule is finalized. The Sun Devils, ranked in several preseason top-25 polls, will open the season on Friday, Nov. 14, against 2008 NCAA Tournament participant Mississippi Valley State at Wells Fargo Arena.
As announced earlier, ASU will take part in the 76 Classic in Anaheim Nov. 27-30 and all of the games are broadcast on either ESPN2 or ESPNU. ASU will take on Charlotte (20-14 in 2007-08) at 6 p.m. PT/7 p.m. MT on Thursday, Nov. 27 (Thanksgiving) on ESPNU to begin the tournament. Also, ASU will play at San Diego State on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m. PT/9 p.m. MT on CBS College Sports.
Other notes on the television schedule include:
*ASU's game at Oregon on Thursday, Feb. 5, will be broadcast on FSN at 7:30 PT/8:30 MT.
*The Sun Devils will host Nebraska (20-13 in 2007-2008) on Sunday, Dec. 7 at Noon on FSN in the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series.
*ASU's five home games broadcast by FSN (four) and ESPN (one) matches the second-most home games broadcast in the league.
*ASU's games on Sat., Feb. 28 (at Washington State), March 5 (vs. Stanford) and March 7 (vs. California) will also could be selected by FSN, ABC or CBS. Those selections won't take place until mid-February.
