Bruins Tied for 10th after First Round at Olympia Fields

The UCLA men's golf team was tied for 10th place after the first round of the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational Friday afternoon.
The Bruins posted a score of 17-over par 297 and were tied with Duke after 18 holes. Big Ten teams Indiana, Illinois and Penn State were tied for first place at 8-over par 288. Vanderbilt was fourth at 289 (+9), followed by Stanford and Texas in a tie for fifth at 290 (+10). Arizona State was the other Pac-10 team in front of the Bruins, tied for eighth at 296 (+16).
Individually for UCLA, sophomore Philip Francis was tied for fifth place with five other players at even par 70. He trailed the leaders by two strokes. Senior Lucas Lee was tied for 14th at 72 (+2) and senior Erik Flores was tied for 33rd at four-over 74. Sophomore Connor Driscoll and freshman Mauricio Azcue were tied for 71st at 81 (+11).
