Women's Cross Country Captures Big Wave Invitational Crown

The Bruin women's cross country team captured their first team title of the season on Saturday as they raced to a win at the Big Wave classic in Honolulu, HI. Freshman Katja Goldring was UCLA's number one runner (14.37.50) for the second straight meet as five of UCLA's seven runners finished in the top-10 overall.

Sophomore Shannon Murakami finished in the runner-up position behind Goldring with her time of 14:39.89. Freshman Sadee Martinez was fifth (14:51.30), senior Lauren Jirges was eighth (14:58.99) and sophomore Kelcie Wiemann was 10th (15:07.02) to highlight UCLA's finishers in the top-10.

Two weeks ago, the Bruins placed second at the UCI Invitational. Next, they will head to Palo Alto on September 27th for the Stanford Invite.
