TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona Soccer team was defeated at home for the first time this season by the visiting Long Beach State 49ers, 2-0.

The Wildcats came into the game 4-0 at home and had yet to give more than one goal in regulation.  Long Beach State’s sophomore midfielder Lindsay Bullock scored in both halves. The first goal came in the 21st minute off a feed from sophomore forward Kristen Kiefer.  The second goal was a header off of a corner kick from senior midfielder Mariko Strickland.

“(The 49ers) played very well,” said Head Coach Dan Tobias, “they put us under a lot of pressure but we’ll rebound on Sunday.”

After the game junior goalkeeper Chelsea McIntyre said, “it’s in us to bounce back.”  She added, “This weekend is big and we let one drop.”

Arizona (6-3-0) will host their second game of the week on Sunday against UC Santa Barbara.  The game starts at 5 p.m. at Mulcahy Stadium.
