Cal Women's Golf Leads Badger Invitational After First Two Rounds

VERONA, WISC. - The University of California women's golf team is continuing its strong 2008 fall season as the Golden Bears are leading the Badger Invitational in Verona, Wisconsin after the first two rounds with a +17 593 following 36 holes Saturday. The Golden Bears, playing at the 6,216-yard, par-72 University Ridge Golf Course, are being paced by sophomore Pia Halbig, who is tied for second with Illinois' Haley Koschmann with a one-under 143 (73, 70). As a team, Cal is ahead of the host Badgers (296, 306 - 602, +26) and Minnesota (314, 290 - 604, +28). The Bears are fresh off of winning their open fall tournament, the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in Fort Collins, Colo., back on Sept. 8-9.
