Women's Tennis at Cal Nike Invitational

BERKLEY--At the Cal Nike Invitational Freshman Sarah Landsman defeated Pacific's Jolanta Twarowska 4-6;6-3;1-0(10-4) in the quarterfinal round of consolation after defeating Sacramento State's Luba Schifris, 7-6(1), 6-4 in the first round. Landsman lost to Cal's Jana Juricova 6-1, 7-6(2) in the round of 32.

Junior Ariane Masschelein defeated Pacific's Sasha Fisher 6-2, 6-3 in the first round of consolation after losing to Long Beach State's Rachel Manasse 6-2,6-4 in the round of 16. Masschelein defeated Sacramento State's Aileen Tsan 6-3, 6-3 in the round of 32.

Freshman Natasha Marks defeated St. Mary's Claire Soper in the first round of consolation 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5) after losing to Cal's Bojana Bobusic 6-1,6-0 in the round of 16. Marks defeated Minnesota's Tijana Koprivica 6-3,6-4 in the round of 32.

In the doubles round of 16, Marks and Landsman defeated San Francisco's Cecilia Gratian and Jenni Heinser 8-5 in the semifinals of consolation after losing to St. Mary's Alexandra Poorta and Claire Soper 8-4.

On Sunday in singles, Masschelein will play Nevada's Caroline Stevens, Landsman will play Long Beach State's Hannah Grady and Marks will play Arizona State's Micaela Hein.

In doubles, Marks and Landsman will play Minnesota's Alessandra Ferrazi and Tijana Koprivica.
