Robert Farah Moves Into ITA All-American Round of 16

TULSA, OKLA. - USC junior Robert Farah got his 2008-09 singles campaign underway with a pair of opening wins at the D'Novo/ITA Men's All-American Championships at Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center today. Farah was one of four Trojans in the main draw singles action today, but the only one to advance out of the first round. Competition continues tomorrow with Farah going into the Round of 16 against Jean-Yves Aubone of Florida State at 9 a.m. CT.

Farah entered today's play as the No. 5 seed in the main draw. He took down Louisville's Austen Childs 6-3, 6-2 to start things off, and then dispatched Stanford's Bradley Klahn 6-2, 6-2 in the Round of 32. Fellow Trojans Abdullah Magdas, Gary Sacks and Jaak Poldma all fell in their first-round singles matches, moving the trio into the main draw consolation bracket.

Farah also teamed up with freshman Steven Johnson in doubles play, winning their opening match 8-6 over Tennessee's Sandgren/Smith to move into tomorrow's doubles Round of 16.
