Stanford Heads South For The 2008 Prestige At PGA West

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 12 Stanford men's golf team will begin its second tournament of the fall on Monday in La Quinta, Calif., as it co-hosts The Prestige at PGA West with No. 40 UC Davis. The event will consist of 54 holes, with the first 36 to be played on Monday at the par-72; 7,156-yard Greg Norman Course.
Sihwan Kim, Joseph Bramlett, David Chung, Steve Ziegler, Daniel Lim, Jordan Cox, and Dodge Kemmer will be teeing it up for Stanford. Five Cardinal golfers will be contributing to the team score, with only the four lowest scores counting towards the total. The remaining two Stanford players will be competing as individuals.
The tournament field, along with the Cardinal and the Aggies, consists of eight other Golfweek top-50 teams in No. 4 Washington, No. 17 Michigan State, No. 21 California, No. 25 Pepperdine, No. 28 Michigan, No. 30 Colorado, No. 42 Kentucky, and No. 49 Central Florida. Northwestern, Notre Dame, Pacific, Rice, and TCU will also be in attendance, along with Golfstat's top-ranked Divison II school, Florida Southern.
Stanford is paired with Michigan State and Kentucky and will tee off first in a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start. Individuals will be a part of the fifth and sixth groups to tee off. Tuesday's final round will also begin with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The last time the Cardinal captured The Prestige at PGA West team and individual titles was 2006. The team collectively shot a 15-under-par 849. Stanford golfer Zack Miller won the individual title with a nine-under-par 207.
