Oct. 14, 2008
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Washington setter Jenna Hagglund was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week following her outstanding performances on the road last weekend. Hagglund is the first Husky since October 2005 to garner AVCA National Player of the Week honors.
The sophomore notched her second and third double-doubles of the season last week, propelling the Huskies to matching five-set road wins over then-No. 8 UCLA and then-No. 11 USC. Against the Bruins, the West Chester, Ohio native dished out 56 assists and managed a career-high 25 digs. The following night, Hagglund put together a repeat performance, recording 57 assists, 11 digs, an ace, a kill and a block assist against the Women of Troy. Washington's victory over USC snapped the Trojans' 32-match home winning streak.
Hagglund averaged 11.30 assists per set and 3.60 digs per set last weekend while guiding the Huskies to a .252 team attack percentage.
The No. 7 Washington volleyball team hosts Pac-10 rivals No. 6 Oregon Friday, Oct. 17 at 7pm and No. 25 Oregon State Sunday, Oct. 19. For the complete schedule and ticket information, log on to GoHuskies.com.
