STANFORD, Calif.- Sophomore Hilary Barte punched her ticket to the singles quarterfinal round on Saturday afternoon at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Barte dropped just three matches on the day, defeating Sacramento State's Aileen Tsan 6-0, 6-1 before cruising past Cal Poly's Steffi Wong 6-1, 6-1 in her next match. Barte, the tournament's No. 1 seed, will also be competing in Sunday's doubles draw with freshman Veronica Li, as the duo advanced to the quarterfinals with an 8-5 victory over California's Bojana Bobusic and Rachel Dillon.

Stanford's other doubles squad of junior Lindsay Burdette and sophomore Carolyn McVeigh was nipped by Sacramento State's Joyce Martinez Gutierrez and Clarisse Baca 9-8 (5).

In singles action, Burdette, McVeigh and Li won their first matches before dropping their respective round of 16 contests. Burdette handled Cal Poly's Suzie Matzenauer 6-2, 6-2, only to suffer a 6-3, 6-2 loss to California's Jana Juricova. After posting a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Desiree Stone of UC Davis, McVeigh was defeated by Sacramento State's Katrina Zheltova 6-2, 6-0. Li took down Washington State's Aleksandra Cekic 6-4, 6-4 before nearly upsetting Fresno State's Melanie Gloria 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Sophomore Jennifer Yen and freshman Courtney Clayton were beaten in their first matches of the day. Yen lost to Fresno State's Anastasia Petukhova 6-3, 6-0 while Clayton suffered a 6-1, 6-1 setback to San Francisco's Jennifer Heinser.

In the consolation draw, freshman Logan Hansen picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Eastern Washington's Caitlin Bampton.
