Huskies Maintain Position After Day 2

Oct. 19, 2008

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- The UW women's golf team remained in 15th place after shooting a combined score of 300 (16 over) on Saturday.

Leading the Dawgs again throughout the day was Karinn Dickinson, who shot a 2-over 73. Dickinson has led the Huskies in all five rounds they've played so far this season, and was their top finisher at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational earlier this month. Right following suit this tournament is Anya Alvarez, who finished a stroke behind Dickinson in consecutive days with a 3-over 74. Starting the final round on Sunday, Dickinson was tied for 30th and Alvarez was tied for 43rd.

Leading the tournament is top-ranked UCLA, which has a two-day score of 6-under and leads USC by two strokes. Coming into the tournament there were nine of the 16 teams ranked in the top 25 in the country.

'We're still learning,' said Huskies head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. 'Sometimes the hard way. We didn't do anything right today. We had a good practice last night and everybody was feeling good, but that didn't transfer over today.'

Rounding out the Huskies' second day were Molly Aronsson (76), Christina Yoon, (77) and Nicole Ferrero (80).

We're just not there yet and it's a matter of putting it together and getting everyone closer to the same level.'

UW final round action begins on Sunday 9:05 a.m. with Ferrero on the 10th hole. For live scoring, log on to
