Starting the season is so exciting!! We played our Red & Blue Game yesterday. Even though we lost, we had some really good moments. From Reiko Thomas, Jhakia McDonald, to Tasha, Amina and Ashley, we all stepped up when needed. But of course we have to work on some things to become better. As a team, our chemistry is there and we like playing together. We are looking forward to our exhibition game next Tuesday, November 4 at 7 p.m., and as well as the tournament we are playing in Hawaii.
Last weekend was our homecoming weekend and it was 'Junior Day' for women's basketball. That means it was an unofficial day where students who are in high school, even middle school or AAU programs, came to U of A to watch us practice and to spend the day with the U of A women's basketball players and coaching staff.
As a team, we split up to show the unofficial recruits and their parents the campus. I showed them the new Richard Jefferson practice facility and weight room with Coach Darling. The kids and parents were excited about everything. I know Reiko and Malia showed them the dorms and the student rec center and Ashley and Sarah showed them the University strip. It was an enjoyable day as a team with the recruits and their parents.
