Walnut Creek, Calif. -
Oregon sophomore forward Jen Stoltenberg was named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 28-Nov. 3, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Stoltenberg, a native of Mission Viejo, Calif., keyed the Ducks sweep of Arizona State and Arizona last weekend on the road, scoring the game-winning goal in both of Oregon's games. In Oregon's 1-0 victory over the Sun Devils, Stoltenberg scored the second fastest goal in Oregon soccer history, finding the back of the net 24 seconds into the game. In Tucson, Stoltenberg scored in the 83rd minute of the game, defeating Arizona 1-0 and narrowly avoiding heading into overtime. Stoltenberg has now recorded four game-winning goals on the season.
Stoltenberg leads the Ducks in points (25), goals (10), and assists (5). With her 25 points, Stoltenberg ties the Oregon single-season record held by former Duck stand-out and four-time Pac-10 Player of the Week Nicole Garbin.
Stoltenberg is ranked in the top-10 in seven major categories in the Conference, including: goals (3rd, 10), game winning goals (4th, 4), points (4th, 25), goals per game (5th, .56), points per game (6th, 1.39), shots (7th, 57), and shots per game (8th, 3.17).
This is Stoltenberg's first Pac-10 honor and eighth all-time for Oregon.
Also Nominated: Jasmine Namdar, Jr., F, Arizona; Carly Kallas, Jr., MF, Arizona State; Allison Falk, Sr., D, Stanford; Christina DiMartino, Sr., MF, UCLA; Lindsay Parlee, So., GK, Washington State.
