Collymore, Hagglund Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

Nov. 6, 2008

SEATTLE - Volleyball players Jill Collymore and Jenna Hagglund were named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday.

Both Huskies earned spots on the first team and both will now move on to the national ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America ballot. Collymore, a junior outside hitter, is a psychology major with a 3.78 GPA. Hagglund is a sophomore setter majoring in pre-science and boasts a 3.58 GPA. Collymore and Hagglund were two of the three Pac-10 athletes named to the first team of District VIII.

It is the second honor for Collymore, who was named to the second team in 2006. Collymore, who redshirted the 2007 season, leads the Pac-10 in service aces and ranks 25th nationally in that category, averaging 0.48 aces per set. She is currently third on the team in kills with 3.03 kps and holds a .314 attack percentage.

This is the first honor for Hagglund, a 2007 Pac-10 All-Freshman pick. Hagglund is tied for second in the country in assists per set, racking up 12.09 aps. She is currently seventh all-time in Washington's history with 2,329 career assists, needing just 174 to overtake sixth place.

The Huskies are back on the court at home this weekend, hosting No. 10 USC Friday night at 7pm and No. 9 UCLA Sunday at 1pm. Sunday's match will air live on FSN. For the complete schedule and ticket information, log on to
