Ingrid Kantola Wins Pac-10 Living The Dream Scholarship

Ingrid Kantola, who finished her eligibilty with the women's track program in June of 2009, has been honored by the Pac-10 Conference as one of two recipients for the 'Living the Dream' scholarship.
The Pac-10 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) selected Kantola and Justin Pollard of Cal as the winners of the 'Living the Dream' Scholarship presented by World Financial Group (the Pac-10 Leadership Award). The Pac-10 Conference and Pac-10 Properties established the 'Living the Dream Scholarship, presented by World Financial Group' to recognize student-athletes who have served on their institutional Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) and demonstrated leadership. The $5000 scholarships for postgraduate study are awarded to one male and one female student-athlete each year.
Kantola served as the track and field representative for the Bruin Athletic Council (BAC) for four years. She was selected as a member of the Executive Council her senior year, and provided outstanding leadership to her peers. Kantola graduated last spring with a degree in Sociology, and finished her competitive career as the third all-time pole vaulter in school history. She was the 2008 Pac-10 Pole Vault Champion. Kantola is currently working as an intern in the UCLA Athletic Department, and plans to pursue a post-graduate degree in Sport Management.
Kantola and Pollard will be recognized at the 2009 Pacific Life/Pac-10 Men's Basketball Tournament.
