Briuin Women Finish 17th At NCAA West Region Championships

Freshman Katja Goldring regained her spot as UCLA's No. 1 runner on Saturday, leading the Bruin women to a 17th-place finish at the NCAA West Region Championships in Palo Alto, CA. Goldring was 73rd overall in a time of 21:47.49.

The women improved greatly on last year's performance at regionals (23rd-place) as 48 seconds seperated UCLA's top runner to the seventh-place runner for the Bruins. Sophomore Kelcie Wiemann was the No. 2 runner for UCLA with her 84th-place finish (21:54.63). Freshman Shelby Buckley finished just behind Wiemann in 85th-place (21:55.83), while sophomore Shannon Murakami was 87th (21:59.01).

Senior Ciara Viehweg, competing in her first race this season, was the No. 5 runner for the Bruins in 99th-place (22:06.79).

Washington won the team title, while Oregon was second and Stanford was third.
