Husky Hoops Prepares For Golden Panthers

SEATTLE - The University of Washington men's basketball team will be looking to earn its second-straight win of the young season Thursday night at 7 p.m. when it hosts undefeated Florida International in the second game of the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic in Bank of America Arena.
Tickets are available through the Husky Ticket Office by calling 206/543-2200, purchasing online by clicking here or at the arena box office prior to the game. The game will not be televised, but will be broadcast live on the radio throughout the Pacific Northwest through the Washington ISP Sports Network.
Seattle-based KJR 950 AM serves as the flagship station with veteran play-by-play announcer Bob Rondeau describing the action and former Husky basketball standout Jason Hamilton providing the color analysis. The broadcast, along with a live statistical GameTracker, will be available on GoHuskies.com

The Huskies evened their record to 1-1 on the year with a convincing 78-63 victory over a highly-regarded Cleveland State squad Tuesday. Senior Jon Brockman poured-in 23 points to go with a game-high 13 rebounds to lead Washington, while Quincy Pondexter just missed-out on a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.
FIU comes into Thursday's game with a 2-0 record after defeating Monmouth 80-61 Monday night in Miami. Junior guard Michael Dominguez led all scorers in the game with a career-high 22 points, while teammate Nikola Gacesa chipped-in a career-high 20 points.
The Golden Panthers survived a close 57-54 decision at home to Eastern Kentucky to open the season last weekend.
Three FIU players are averaging in double-figures in scoring through the first two games, led by Dominguez' 19.5 points per game. Freddy Asprilla is scoring an a 11.0 per-game clip, while Gacesa has a 10.0 per game average. The team's leading rebounder is Asprilla with an average eof 7.5 per game.
