Nov. 20, 2008
The ASU Men's Basketball team will be in action on Sunday, taking on Pepperdine University at 2 p.m. Fans attending the game are encouraged to enter campus from the south, using Priest Drive to travel north and southbound and University Drive to travel east and westbound with the Ironman Triathlon taking place that day.
Beginning at 7 a.m. on race day, Sunday, Nov. 23, portions of Alma School, McDowell and McKellips roads, McClintock Drive, the Beeline Highway and Shea Boulevard will be closed. Some roadways are scheduled to reopen at 5:30 p.m.; others will remain closed until midnight. Freeway access at Loop 101 and McKellips Road also will be prohibited during that time. Expect heavy delays and traffic congestion while driving in and around Tempe. Please view the attached PDF file for a complete guide to the event's traffic restrictions and road closures.
Several streets near the ASU Tempe campus will be closed this weekend. Starting at 6 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, Rio Salado Parkway between Ash and Mill avenues will be closed to set up for the race. This stretch of road is scheduled to re-open at noon on Monday, Nov. 24.
