Around the league... ARIZONA junior F Jordan Hill posted a pair of double-doubles last week, averaging 12.5 points and 16.0 rebounds. His 22 rebounds in the one-point loss to UAB equaled the eighth-best single-game total in Arizona history and the most by a Pac-10 player since the 1999-2000 season... ARIZONA STATE sophomore G James Harden has a pair of double-doubles this season - one with points/assists, the other with points/rebounds... CALIFORNIA legendary coach Pete Newell passed away Monday, Nov. 17. Newell guided the Golden Bears to their only national title in 1959. The Hall of Fame coach also directed Team USA to the gold medal at the 1960 Olympic Games. Golden Bear junior F Theo Robertson seems to have fully recover from hip surgery that caused him to redshirt last season. He posted a career-high 23 points, hitting 5-of-7 from three-point range in Cal's 87-74 win over San Francisco... Coach Ernie Kent became OREGON's all-time wins leader with Friday's 84-77 road win at UC Irvine. Kent, now with 213 career victories at UO, passed Basketball Hall of Famer Howard Hobson who boasted an 11-year mark of 212-124. Kent is currently 213-135 in his 12th season with the Ducks. Junior G Tajuan Porter became the 29th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point mark following his team-best 23 points at UC Irvine. Porter has amassed 1,003 points in 70 career games with the Ducks. He is the 10th player to reach the milestone under Kent, and the fifth player in the last three seasons... OREGON STATE sophomore F Daniel Deane posted a double-double with career-highs of 19 points/10 rebounds in the loss at Nevada. Deane redshirted last season after transferring from Utah. His previous high output during his freshman season at Utah was 12 points and seven rebounds... All five STANFORD starters scored in double figures in the 103-85 win over Cal State Northridge. Senior G Mitch Johnson dished out eight assists to give him 403 assists for his career. He's the fifth player in school history to reach 400 assists... UCLA senior F Alfred Aboya scored a career-high 22 points and added eight rebounds in the win over Southern Illinois. He left the contest late in the game with a wrist injury, but an MRI taken upon his return to Los Angeles were negative. He's listed as probable for UCLA's next game, which is Saturday, Nov. 29 vs. Florida International... USC junior F Taj Gibson had a big week as he averaged 17.3 points, 12.8 rebounds and 3.8 blocks in four games. He posted five blocks twice last week. He's accomplished that in three of five games this season... WASHINGTON senior G Justin Dentmon needs 13 points to reach 1,000 points for his career... WASHINGTON STATE freshman G Klay Thompson hit 5-of-9 from three-point range and scored 17 points vs. Sacramento State. He's hitting 8-of-19 (.421) from beyond the arc for the season.
