Yale Edges Oregon State, 53-52

Nov. 24, 2008

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) -- Travis Pinick blocked a 3-point attempt by Oregon State's Daniel Deane in the final seconds Monday to secure Yale's 53-52 win at Gill Coliseum.

The Bulldogs spoiled the home debut of Oregon State coach Craig Robinson, the brother-in-law of President-elect Barack Obama.

Pinick had a team-high 12 points and six rebounds for Yale (1-3) and Alex Zampier added 10 points.

Josh Tarver led Oregon State (0-3) with 21 points, but missed two free throws with 4.9 seconds left and the Beavers trailing by one.

Pinick missed his free throw on the other end, and Oregon State got the rebound and called time-out to set up a final play. Pinick blocked Deane's long 3-point attempt just before the buzzer.
