Nov. 27, 2008

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) -- Natasha Vital scored a career-high 22 points and Devanei Hampton played for the first time this season to help No. 3 California rout South Florida 85-55 on Thursday night at the Paradise Jam tournament.

Hampton was sidelined for the first three games while recovering from a right knee injury. She had nine points and six rebounds in 10 minutes for the Bears (4-0).

Jazmine Sepulveda scored 11 points to lead the Bulls (4-1), who averaged 98.5 points in their first four games but couldn't get much going against Cal.

The Bears used a 21-4 run in the first half to take control. They held the Bulls without a field goal for more than 6 minutes before the break and South Florida shot just 28.6 percent (20-for-70) for the game.

California will play Texas Tech on Friday.
