Buffs Fall To No. 3 Texas

AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Colorado Buffaloes fell to the Texas Longhorns 0-3 on Saturday night in the final match of the 2008 season. Game scores were 21-25, 13-25, 17-25.

 

Junior Emilee Sisco hit a team-high .250 (12k-5e-28att). Amber Sutherland added nine kills and seven digs. Lauren Schaefer and Alex Buth each tallied four kills. Buth also added four digs. Kaitlyn Burkett put up 27 of CU's 30 assists.

                                              

The loss ended Colorado's season at 13-16 overall and 7-13 in the Big 12. Texas improved to 25-3 overall and 18-2 in the Big 12 to tie for a share of the league's title.

 

The Buffs hit .140 (32k-18e-100att) while the Longhorns hammered .359 (49k-12e-103att). Colorado recorded 3.0 total team blocks compared to UT's 7.0.

 

The teams were fairly even in digs, as CU recorded 34 and UT picked up 39. Callie Webster led the Buffs with 24.

 

Colorado came out strong in the first set, tying the score four times. The Buffs lost their momentum in the second set as Texas scored seven unanswered points, extending their lead to 23-10. CU came up short in the third set despite exchanging the lead with the Longhorns three times. An eight-point run pushed Texas ahead to 16-7 and sealed their victory.
