IRVING, Texas - University of Colorado freshman Emily Childs has been named the Big 12 Women's Golfer of the Month for competition through November, the conference announced Wednesday.

This is Childs' second Big 12 honor in her brief career, as she was also recognized earlier this season for her performance in the month of September.  Childs is the only women's golfer in program history to win the award twice, doing so in just the first three months of her career.

Childs finished sixth at the Texas State Challenge at Wolfdancer, shooting a 227 (76-74-77) to lead the Buffs as they captured their first team win of the season. The rookie finished sixth individually, and managed to record her third top-10 finish of the season. Currently CU's No. 1 golfer, she has posted a team-low and lowest fall average in program history of 73.27, and tabbed a team-low round score of 67.

Colorado will tee off the spring portion of its season on Sunday, Feb. 15 when the Buffs re-commence play in the San Diego State Spring Invitational in San Diego, Calif.
