Williams Completes WSU's Women's Golf Recruiting Class

Dec. 5, 2008

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University women's golf Head Coach Walt Williams announced the signing of Emma Betland to a National Letter of Intent.

Betland's resume is full of accomplishments, both locally and nationally. She is a four time Forbes Ladies Club Champion, and has been heavily involved in the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation, where she won the state title in the 16-year age group, and again in the 17-year group.

She finished in a tie for seventh at the Australian Girls Amateur Championship this year after placing 14th in 2007. The Forbes native also contributed to a second-place team finish at the Australian Inter-state Team Match-play Championships in 2008, where she won four matches and lost one individually.

Coach Williams said he was really excited to get one of the top 10 players from Australia, who will join Alexandra Thompson as part of a recruiting class that will join the Cougars in 2009-10.

'Emma and Alexandria are both great players to add to the Washington State women's golf team,' Williams said.
