Los Angeles, Calif. - The UCLA women's basketball team posted its fourth-straight win after earning a 62-47 decision over Nevada Sunday afternoon in Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins, now 6-1 on the season, are off to their best start to a season since the 2004-05 team also won six of its first seven games.

UCLA used a 17-6 second-half run during the middle of the second half to help put away the Wolf Pack. Sophomore guard Darxia Morris sparked the Bruins by handing out five of her team-high six assists during the stretch. Morris also contributed a team-high 10 points. The Bruins led 35-29 with 15:48 to play in the contest when they went on the run which left them with a 52-37 margin with 8:04 on the clock. Nevada never got closer than 13 points after that and saw their record fall to 4-5 on the season.

Junior guard Erica Tukiainen helped UCLA jump out to a 9-2 lead at the 14:40 mark of the first half by scoring five points during a 9-0 Bruin run. UCLA pulled out to a 21-7 advantage with 9:18 on the clock as Nevada connected on just three of its first 20 shots from the field. The Bruins went on to settle for a 28-15 lead at the break after holding the Wolf Pack to just 16.7% shooting in the first half.

UCLA held Nevada to an opponent season-low 25.5% shooting percentage for the game and the 47 points was also an opponent season-low total. The 47 points are the fewest a Bruin team has allowed since Arizona State scored 44 points in a game at Pauley Pavilion on Jan. 14, 2005. The Bruins also controlled the boards by a 54-34 margin. Senior Chinyere Ibekwe paced UCLA with a game-high 12 rebounds. Ibekwe added eight points and had three steals.

The Bruins will return to action on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. when they play host to the University of San Diego in Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins will look to achieve their best start to a season since the 1980-81 squad opened its schedule with 12 straight wins.
