Cougar Women Set to Face Idaho
Dec. 10, 2008
Following a perfect start to the month of December this past weekend in Pullman, the Washington State women's basketball team (5-2) crosses the border for the first of a three-game road trip, squaring off against Idaho (2-5) Sunday (Dec. 14) in Moscow, Idaho. Tip-off against the Vandals is slated for 2 p.m. at Cowan Spectrum.
Following Sunday's game against Idaho, the Cougars will travel to the Aloha State for two games against Hawaii, Dec. 19 and Dec. 22.
HIGH SCORING COUGARS
WSU is averaging 76.3 points per game through the first seven games of the 2008-09 season, a mark that ranks 25th nationally and second in the Pacific-10 Conference. Of Pac-10 teams, only third-ranked Stanford (77.4 ppg) has a higher scoring output in games played through Dec. 7.
Fans can listen to Sunday's game on KQQQ 1150 AM. Play-by-play man Steve Grubbs will call the game live from Moscow. The broadcast can also be heard online at www.wsucougars.com. Fans can also watch the Cougars' match-up live on GameTracker at www.wsucougars.com.
LAST TIME OUT
WSU capped a 2-0 start to December with a 73-52 victory over Milwaukee Dec. 7 at Friel Court.
Down 27-22 heading into intermission, the Cougars opened with an 18-2 run in the first four-plus minutes of the second half, and built as much as a 23-point lead. WSU connected on each of its first eight field goal attempts in the second half, including two 3-pointers from Cook, the second of which gave the Cougars a 30-29 lead at 18:05 that they held on to for the remainder of the game.
The Cougars forced a season-high 30 turnovers on the game, besting the 28 they forced against Long Beach State Friday night.
The Cougars lead the all-time series 25-13 and are looking for their second straight victory over the Vandals after winning last year's meeting 67-49 in Pullman. WSU has not defeated the Vandals on the road since Dec. 12, 1995 (72-71), a streak of four consecutive losses.
