14th-Seeded Bruins Fall in Four at #3 Texas

AUSTIN, Texas - Senior Ali Daley had a double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs, senior Jessica Fine posted 22 digs and senior Nellie Spicer ended her collegiate career with 6,000 assists, but the 14th-seeded UCLA women's volleyball team fell to #3 Texas on Friday in the NCAA Regional semifinal at Gregory Gymnasium. Scores were 11-25, 25-22, 21-25, 21-25.

The Bruins conclude their season at 22-11, while the Longhorns improve to 28-3 and will face Iowa State in the Regional final on Saturday.

Spicer had 25 assists to finish her brilliant four-year career with exactly 6,000, becoming the second Bruin to reach that mark (Erika Selsor, 6,234). Freshman Katie Camp had eight kills, sophomore Dicey McGraw posted six kills and eight digs and freshman Amanda Gil recorded six kills and six blocks. Defensively, sophomore Jazmin Machado and freshman Lainey Gera each had eight digs. The Bruins hit .068 as a team.

Texas was led by Lauren Paolini's 17 kills, while Destinee Hooker had 16 kills and 13 digs. Heather Kisner posted 28 digs. The Longhorns hit .196 as a team.
