Arizona's Ibekwe Named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week

ARIZONA sophomore forward Ify Ibekwe was named the U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 8-14, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Ibekwe, a native of Carson, Calif., averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds to help the Wildcats earn wins over San Diego and Long Beach State last week. On Sunday, Ibekwe pulled down 17 rebounds against the 49ers en route to her Conference-leading fifth double-double of the season. In an all-around effort, Ibewke added 15 points, four assists, four blocks, three steals, and was a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line as Arizona went on to defeat Long Beach State, 56-47.
In the nine games she has played this season, Ibekwe has recorded five games with double-digit rebounding, including three games with a 17-plus rebounding effort. Ibweke is now eighth in the nation in rebounding and leads the Pac-10, averaging 11.6 rebounds per game.
This is the first weekly honor for Ibekwe and the 35th all-time for Arizona, the first honor for a Wildcat since the 2004-05 season.
The Wildcats return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 17 as they play host to UC Riverside.
